The key to our development are the proposed roads. These roads connect the City of McAlester, the City Krebs, and Kinkead Hills housing addition directly to the Willow Creek retail development. These roads would change the flow of local traffic, allowing the the above listed populations to access the current retail (Walmart, Staples, Lowes) without having the dangers and inconvenience of crossing highway 69 and highway 270. Additionally, to get to the current retail stores, the populations would have to pass by the proposed new retail sites, creating a second layer of retail development.
The City of McAlester has expressed interest in this plan because of the land lock issues with Kinkead Hills and the new fire department station located on Village Drive and Lot 10. If the under sized bridge were to fail that exists just west of our entrance to our Property 1 on Village Drive, all of the residents as well as the fire station crews would become landlocked. The entrance to our property would lay on the east side of the creek providing the residents and fire station crews a secondary exit to the city streets and highway access. This bridge is at least 40 years old and was not designed to handle the current run-off drainage volume that now exist with all of the upstream development that has occurred since the bridge was constructed. The City of McAlester has recognized this as a potential problem that needs some future solution.
